The Institute's extensive library consists of almost thirty thousand items with much of the collection being unique. These catalogues provide a way to locate items within the library.
County Listings
Each county catalogue is divided into sections for parish registers, trade directories and then any other documents that we hold.

Original Documents
The Institute holds many original documents from deeds to letters dating from the 15th to the 20th century. Visitors to the library can request to view any of the documents.

Trade Directories
Directories for large towns can date from around the middle of the 18th Century and County Directories from early 19th Century.

Will Indexes
Wills are of the greatest importance to the genealogist. They are the principal and often the only records by which families in the middling classes of life can trace their antecedents.
